Meet the Staff

Winfree Memorial Preschool is a Nationally Accredited School through the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs. We are proud to be one of the select preschools in the Richmond area with a nationally accredited program. Our goal is to strengthen and enhance the standards of our early childhood program and to exemplify excellence in the care of young children. We are a nine month school, beginning in September of each year, with several Summer Camps during the month of June. Our dedicated teaching team has been providing care and education to the community here in Midlothian, Virginia for over sixty years.

Our Purpose

  • To support children through the best in early childhood education so that they may develop to their highest potential in physical ,mental, emotional, social and spiritual growth

  • To support the family and to help parents in the crucial years of child rearing and to provide an outreach and witness to the community of the highest qualities of Christian faith, love and social justice.

Our Staff

Winfree Memorial Preschool is operated under the supervision of a Preschool Oversight Committee. The Committee is a group of responsible church members and serves the weekday school board.
The Director, Jessica Morrissette, is responsible for the overall management of the Preschool.  She holds a BS Degree in Family and Community Studies from Liberty University.  She has over 30 years of experience in Early Childhood Care and Management.

We are extremely proud of our excellent staff of teachers, directors and support staff. We require on-going training for our staff through state classes, orientation videos, in-house training, and other certified professionals in the education field. All of our staff is trained in First Aid and CPR. We take great pride and responsibility to keep safe, educate and nurture the children within our care.

Each member of our teaching team holds their degree in the education field or has a plan in place to achieve certification in education. Every teacher will complete the Virginia State fingerprint background check as well as a Virginia Child Abuse background check.

Our Facilities

Our Facility

Winfree Preschool has beautiful, spacious classrooms with natural inviting color schemes. Each room has multiple windows providing natural lighting and a view of the playground or the wooded area surrounding our building. Sometimes the children can see various birds, turtles, or groundhogs and other wildlife from the windows in their classrooms! We have age appropriate playgrounds, an outdoor field for sports, and an indoor gross motor room and gymnasium (when weather does not permit outside trips!)

 

Location

We are conveniently located minutes from route 288 and Powhite parkway in the town of Midlothian VA. Easy and quick drop off and pick up with our car pool drop and pick up system, for most ages. Winfree Memorial Preschool has a natural shaded large play yard with a spacious deck area where the children can play and picnic. The play yard backs up to a large natural lot with various kinds of wildlife for the children to observe.
